Rules to Play Pickleball
Pickleball is simple, fast, and fun to learn. These basic rules will help you understand the game and play with confidence.

- The game always begins with a serve.
- All serves must be underhand.
- Both teams must play the first shot off the bounce after the serve.

Non-Volley Zone (The Kitchen)
Non-Volley Zone (The Kitchen)
- A 7-foot non-volley zone, known as the kitchen, is located on both sides of the net.
- Players cannot volley the ball while standing inside the kitchen.
- Ground strokes are allowed if the ball has bounced.
- Smashing or volleying from inside the kitchen is not permitted.

- Points can be scored only by the serving team.
- Games are played to 11 points, with a 2-point winning margin.
- Faults occur if the ball goes out of bounds, hits the net, or a player steps into the kitchen during a volley.

Double Bounce Rule
Double Bounce Rule
- After the serve, the ball must bounce once on each side of the court.
- The receiving team lets the serve bounce.
- The serving team lets the return bounce.
- After these two bounces, players may volley or play the ball after a bounce.

Specific Serving Rules

- Both feet must remain behind the baseline while serving.
- The serve must travel diagonally cross-court, clearing the non-volley zone.
- Only one serve attempt is allowed, except in the case of a let.
